You’ve taken the plunge and created a website for your business. One that is designed in a search engine friendly way with quick load times, easy to read text, keyword rich URLs and even a good number of backlinks. Yet having all this time and money, one big thing is missing: – CONSISTENT FRESH CONTENT!

Your Blog isn’t exactly the New York Times, nor do you have the luxury of endless free interns. The keywords rich content on your major pages maybe great but the freshness of content on your website is a major ranking factor for search engines; To bring customers to your website through digital channels you need regular keyword rich content.

You may ask: where do I even start? Well have no fear, it’s not as hard as you think. Here is quick guide to content: from creation to post.

Know Your Audience

The first part of creating interesting content is understanding the background of your target audience. You must find interesting ways to appeal to their needs and interests with language and themes that connect with the types of questions they ask search engines. This is the best way to make your content appear in the results of search engines. Doing this consistently will build your website’s authority in its field which have any overall boosting effect on your content in search engines

Pick The Right Keywords

It’s always better to see this kind of things in action, so let’s imagine you are the owner of an Irish bar  in Boston. The rankingCoach keywords tool has identified the phrase «Irish pub» as a great term for SEO: It has a high search volume in Germany of 40500 searches a month and is easy to rank for. Also ‘Irish Pubs Hamburg has a good number of searches( 3600) and will certainly be a term used by customers looking for a bar like yours.

What Kind of Ideas

Before we get too far ahead with our content ideas it’s important to consider a few requirements: The idea we use should create an article at least 1000 words long. This is golden word count for SEO content is Content of at least this length often ranks best on Google.

This shouldn’t just be chosen for the ease of writing. It’s important to find an idea that is interesting enough to hold the reader’s attention for these 1000 words. Getting customers to our website is only half the battle, keeping them their and interested is the next part.

Well written interesting content is a big part of making this happen. If we get this write, it will have a long lasting benefit for our business. For E-Commerce sites, the longer a user stays on your website, the better the chance of making a sale. Also, the length of time users spend on a page is also a ranking factor.

Turning Trending Topics and Keywords into Content

Finding An Interesting Topic

We want to create interesting content around these terms and we need a little inspiration. Let’s head to Google Trends with our term ‘Irish pub’ and see if we can find some useful information for creating engaging content. Looking through the trends related to the phrases «Irish pub» and «Irish pub» two interesting topics that came up are «Quiz» and «Whiskey». So let’s see ideas we can create with these two topics.

These two themes are connected to our business and with a little though we can find some interesting ideas that can incorporate our keywords: here are just a few suggestions of the top of my head:

1)The difference between Irish and Scotttish Whiskey along with a recommendation of good bar in Hamburg to drink

2) Best Pub quiz’s in Boston

3) whiskey tasting events in Boston

4) A guide on how to make the best Irish Coffee along with a reference to the best

Place in Hamburg to have proper one made for you

Should This Be Content for My Site?

Any of the ideas could make great content. If you are not sure about your ideas ask yourself these four questions

  • Will my idea create original and interesting content?
  • Can it be linked to the services and products I am offering?
  • What’s the difference between an Irish pub and German bar?
  • Does it create plenty of chances to weave in the required keywords?
  • Does it have a reasonable search volume?

By taking a little time to explore ideas you will taken piece of dry self promotion and transformed it into an informative thousand-word piece on travel and quaint bars. This will appeal to the customers sense of adventure whilst using all the right words to make sure they can find us on the search in the first place.

When you have written your content you have done the hardest part, but don’t rush the posting process. This is one of the most overlooked steps of creating content for good SEO. Here are some things to make sure you get right.

The Title Tag

The title tag is a short explanation of the page content. It should be unique for each page and under 60 characters. Keeping it below this number will ensure that it displays correctly on search engines.

The title tag also appears in the browser tab for the article; for this article you can see a partial display of the title The Blog: meta tags and Meta Description for SEO on your browser tab.

The title tag will appear in bold above the page URL in blue. The title tag is the first thing that search engine user read about the page; it is effectively a shop window for your website. It is vitally important that it draws users’ attention and communicates the site’s purpose and brand message effectively.

This is more important than filling every space with keywords: even if doing so gets a site into a good position,  users still need to find the listing appealing to click on it.

The Meta Description Right

Next we have the meta description which appears below the site URL. This should be no longer than 150 characters. The Meta Description’s additional length provides more opportunities for keywords but it still has the same considerations as the title. We also need to make sure the description is not interesting and not overstuffed with keywords

It is always good to take a look at how your pages are displaying on search engines, especially if you have entered a meta title or meta description that is close to the previously suggested character limits.

Tags and Keywords With Media Content

Writing image alt text gives you another chance to boost keywords with your content.

We should use keywords with them in a similar way to meta tags and meta descriptions: in so far as we should avoid keyword spamming. We need to work keywords into a description of what the image actually shows or the key ideas in the article.

Image alt text also create an additional channel on many search engines for traffic to flow from, by making your website’s images appear in the image search results. Build this into your consideration too. In general image tags length should be less than 125 characters.

We hope this quick guide will help you to produce some great content. I look forward to finding it on search engines soon!
